Cornucopia cat figurine

Cornucopia cat figurine hand carved from persimmon wood, covered with hard wax oil. The cornucopia is a symbol of fertility, wealth, and an endless supply of nature’s bounty, traditionally depicted as a hollow horn from which fruits, vegetables, and flowers spill forth. But in today’s world, when you can have a loving, comforting pet like a cat, it, too, can be a symbol of abundance and an endless supply of resources. How often have you judged a pet owner’s wealth by the appearance of their pet? Admit it—a well-fed and content cat makes a better impression than a full refrigerator. This is exactly the feeling my piece titled “The Cat of Prosperity” conveys. I worked very hard to make the cat with truly chubby cheeks. Here it is, sitting in a large horn. Has it eaten all the supplies? Does it even matter? The figurine features many small, hand-carved details. The carving on the horn’s surface imitates wickerwork. Every strand of fur, the eyes, the detailed nose, and the ears—everything is crafted with the utmost care and skill. The piece has been sanded and polished. My signature is on the bottom of the figurine.
