Kittens memorial figurine

Hand carved wooden kittens figurine made from jojoba wood. Covered with hard wax oil.

Once, whilst visiting a friend’s house, I happened to see two little kittens sleeping peacefully, curled up together. It looked so natural and sweet that I immediately thought I had to capture the moment in a wooden figurine. I sketched out the design and selected a piece of wood suitable for high-quality, fine detailing, with a warm tone that complemented the design. This was followed by around 10 hours of carving, polishing and sanding. I paid particular attention to the texture of the sheet on which the kittens are lying, to make it look as natural as possible. The tiny cat faces also required a great deal of patience and skill in carving. Thanks to the high-quality workmanship, this lovely figurine came to life. The colours of the figurine are almost natural; I tinted them slightly with a reddish natural pigment to add contrast. On the back of the piece is my signature: AK – Anna Kobzeva. The figurine is quite stable and can stand on your bookshelf or in a memorial corner for your beloved pets. However you choose to use this piece, it will serve you well for a long time.
